Sharing Worship & Christian Values

Worship is fundamental to life at St. John’s Stonefold.  The former St. John’s church is now a residence and our links are with St James’s church, Haslingden.

Daily worship follows structured themes and is delivered in a variety of ways.  Mr Burns,  as Headteacher, delivers worship on Monday to start each week as a school family, and Miss Isherwood ends the week with a celebration worship with the whole school.   Clergy, Father Simon and other staff members deliver Wednesday worship for the whole school and in class, so that all staff are involved in planning and delivering worship, enhancing the family atmosphere.  Hymns, both modern and traditional, are a key part of school life and are practised on Thursday mornings during Prayer and Praise. Father Simon support our singing worship time each week. On Tuesdays, our whole school worship celebrates equality, diversity and justice themes. This is an opportunity for the children to learn about different people, races, religions and link this new learning to our school Christian values.

Emphasis is placed on our five key Christian values, this spell out the word ‘Eagle’ which is linked to our school symbol.

Whenever possible, the themes of worship are linked to our values and other aspects of life in school, e.g. encouraging care for one another, sharing, the avoidance of being tempted and so on.

There are a number of special services linked to key events in the Christian calendar for parents and the wider community to come and enjoy, such as Harvest Festival, Easter Worship, Christingle and Eucharist services.
