Welcome To

Lapwing Class

In Lapwing Class, we have a mixture of Year 4 and Year 5 children. Working in the class we have Mr Martin and Miss Jackson. As a teaching group we aim to instill a love of learning within our children focusing our teaching on the children’s interests. We encourage children to learn through play and understand that we learn best from our mistakes. We want to develop and grow each day. Most important of all, we want learning to be fun and reward children with a safe learning environment where everyone gains respect from their peers.

Mr Martin

This will be my first year working at St John’s Stonefold and a new step in my teaching career that I am extremely excited for. I have previous experience working across both key stages, training to be a teacher in Year 1 before working in Year 3, 4 and 5.

I originally studied at Edge Hill University before completing my PGCE through the University of Cumbria. Teaching has been a privilege within my career and a job role I thoroughly love. Alongside being a class teacher, I am also the Deputy Head Teacher, SENDCO and Maths Subject Leader.

Outside of school, I am a keen sportsman, where I hold the responsibilities of the 1XI captain and junior coach of my local cricket club. I also enjoy running where I have completed numerous races at all distances up to marathon. Furthermore, I have 12 years of experience in the Boy’s Brigade where I hold the highest award the ‘Queen’s Badge’.
